Lower back pain is probably the most common condition we see in our clinic, and there are many causes. The majority of back pain is a result of the following conditions:

  • A mechanical problem with one or more of the joints of the spine or pelvis. The sacroiliac joints in the pelvis are probably most commonly involved.
  • Strains and sprains due to injuries , overuse or poor posture.
  • Arthritic degeneration
  • Damage to a disc, sometimes called a slipped or prolapsed disc, these are fortunately not very common and only about five percent of cases end up needing surgical intervention
  • Muscle spasm
  • There are alsosome rare more serious conditions that would requiremedical treatment, which we are trained to look for and if found we would immediately refer you to the appropriate specialist.
